BOOKS, HOOKS AND YARN

Spring is here for sure. Lilacs are blooming, smelling wonderful. Last of the spring birds are here too. Hearing the song of the house wrens, heard and saw a Baltimore Oriole on Tuesday.   Attended my first car race event this past weekend. We had a successful day, get to see lots of people I know and haven't seen in months. Dobby had his Auntie Kellie come to take care of him so he was well cared for.  Also, Dobby had his first vet appointment. Got him in the carrier with a bit of a commotion, even using treats to temp him inside. He did lots of singing on the way there. Good checkup, except he has a yeast infection in his ears. So I get to squirt meds into his ears for the next week.  Being busy means a bit less of reading time, but still take some time every day to read. Even if it is only a chapter or two. Happy May! May Day! The past few days have been much cooler than average, a little bit of rain too. No additional flooding. With it being cooler than average I still have the furnace running. I don't like to be cold. Doing work in the yard is good, don't work up a sweat to mow the lawn.  Dobby is being a good kitty. I am amazed that he is so chill at times in a new place. I certainly hope he likes it here.   Not much going on here either. Dull times!  Crayon Box, Red Heart Bitty Stripes is the blanket this week. I like this yarn mix. A bit tweedy, not a solid colors. When I find this yarn on sale I buy a couple of colors for the stash. Haven't seen it on sale lately.    Happy Weekend. 

At the end of April already. Things are getting much greener, trees leafing out and my crab apple is ready to bloom. Saw a hummingbird at the feeder late last week and have the Oriole feeder with jelly out already too. Although once the jelly is out the robins get very possessive about it.  After a long break we got together for trivia. Five teams, we were third with 61 points but the winner only had 68. Lots of stuff on this week that we had not clue, Super Mario stuff, Lego reproductions of movie scenes. Also got to see our favorite waiter and have a nice chat. He was in to work a private group and then they didn't show! So he would be missing out on a huge tip night. He also turns 21 next week, he is such a cutie! A bit less time to read these days. Doing the yard work that needs to be done now. Brush pickup is soon, so have to get the pruning done. Happy Friday! Thankful that the weather has been quiet for the past week and things are drying out. The grass has been growing so I hauled out the lawn mower and evened out the areas that were getting shaggy. Need to do some pruning on the trumpet vine and the one lilac too.  We have had nice weather which means the windows have been open. I like it and so does Dobby. He is getting better with the carrier, that is where he gets his daily treats.   Getting towards the end of crochet season, at least for blankets. I have one I am working on and then one more to go for the spring. Then I can refill my shelves. I will have used the rest of the yarn on the right hand shelves.  This blanket is made with  Arcade Party from Big Twist. I have used this color before, lots of bright primary colors.      Happy Weekend.
