Crochet Hats - Kid Size - Batch 1

Image
First batch of kid size hats. Ones that I had enough yarn to make an entire hat of the same color yarn. If I counted correctly I made 15 hats like this. More to come as I do the hats where I only have a limited amount of yarn.  Numerous houses in my area are getting new roofs, one behind me, the one across the street. Once those are done it will be quiet again. I got mine redone last year, so I must be a trend setter. Ha! Hot and humid weather on the way for next week. Ick, I don't do well in hot and humid conditions. I will do my best to chill out and take it easy.  Otherwise, not much going on!  I can relate to this, when I do my hats I crochet them. Then I sit down and weave in the ends as needed. I don't completely finish them off one at a time. Too slow!     Happy Weekend!

More beautiful summer weather, a bit of rain here and there but nothing major. Temperatures just where I like them as well. Lots of open windows for me and Dobby. Supposed to get hot next week. Sort of noisy in the neighborhood, the street behind me is getting worked on, so big truck noises. Beeping when they back up. I should walk over and check out exactly what they are doing. Two houses also getting new roofs. Not that bad and it is only during the day, evenings are quiet.  The library sent out a review on what we thought of the trivia. So I got our feedback together and sent it in. Overall it was fine, just needs a few tweaks to make it better. Hope they do it again.  Plus lots of time for reading, let's see what I have this week.   The Girls Who Stepped Out of Line - written by a retired Army Major General, it relates over a dozen stories of women who stepped up for duty in World War II. Dobby Time

Image
Isn't he looking all sweet and innocent here? The sun catching his coat and one ear. Yep! But his was shortly after he attempted to jump in the shower with me, slipped and ended up leaving a large scratch on my foot. Minor scratch, nearly completely healed. He is still a sweet boy.  I was a bad cat mom the other night. I was tired, went to bed and forgot to put out more crunchies for him. So when I got up in the morning and went to get my own breakfast, yeah, his dish was empty. He got brekkie before I got my brekkie! As of today Dobby has been here three months March 19 to June 19. He will get lots of love today, not that he doesn't get lots of love everyday.  He still sleeps on the bed every night. Usually near my feet, although some nights he starts out on my pillow. He is a big cat so he takes up lots of area space on my pillow!  The library did a trivia night on Thursday this week. A simple three section quiz, each section had a theme. Ten questions per sectio...

Happy Heavenly birthday to my mother, you have been gone longer that I had you with me!  Life is quiet for the most part. Although this past weekend there were two incidents, one a road rage issue, the other a son driving a car over this father. Both of these happened within a half mile from where I live! Sheesh, things around here are usually so quiet in my neighborhood. From what I understand none of these people lived around here. No one is in custody at this time either.  Wonderful summer weather, at least for me. Warm enough, not humid, a few rain showers. I don't do heat!.  Hockey and basketball seasons are finally done. Baby Hats

The severe weather threat and with it the hot and humid weather has moved on for now. Should be able to open the windows today and get some fresh air back in the house. With the rain we got will need to use the lawn mower again in the next week.   Waiting for family and friends to check in who were close to the severe storms on Thursday. So many are out of power from the high winds that went through. Not sure yet if there were tornados.  The things I had to do outside the house I managed to get done between storms and not get wet. Also that meant the car was in the garage in case any hail happened. No hail happened, thankfully.   I had this yarn in the bag for adult hats. Then when I got to it I decided because the yarn itself was so soft it would be better for infant size hats.  I managed to get five hats!     Happy Weekend!

Summer is here. Going to be hot and humid for the next few days with the strong possibility of strong to severe storms. I don't have to be anywhere important, so can keep the car in the garage and way from any hail. I may need to turn on the air conditioning in the house too. I don't do well in high humidity and outside is terrible right now.  We did get a little bit of rain over the weekend, but the grass is not starting to grow. So I can ignore needing to mow the grass for another week. Sort of on an every two week schedule at this point, sort of what I would expect for mid-August.   Did trivia with the gang on Monday. Seven total teams and we ended up in 4th place with a score that is typical of what we get in the mid 60s, total points is usually 82-84. We just enjoy the evening out and visiting with each other. Over the summer we aren't playing as often anyway as we are busy with summer stuff.  The Austen Affair - Tess is an actor who scored a leading role in an ...

Adult Hats

Warming up outside and maybe a chance of rain. Which means some time to read and crochet. Just taking life easy, as usual.  I did have my roofing contractor come over to look at the roof. While we had hail storms in April the hail was very small. He said the roof looked fine with no issues. It is just 11 months since it was installed.  Foot feeling OK after Dobby scratched it. I just rub lotion into the skin to keep it moist and not have the scab crack and bleed. So far he has avoided trying to get in the shower with me. Although I heard him the other day flopping on the rug. Seems he had a small nip fish that he was playing with. I need to give him a fresh nip nanner one of these days! The first batch of hats made. Starting with the yarn that I have the most of I made what I could of hats that should fit an adult. I managed to get twenty hats done from what I had leftover. Not bad! Dobby doing his inspections, I think he approves.     Happy Weekend!

Our dry weather continues, and most of my lawn is crunchy. I did even off the bits where it was growing the past few days. That should keep things looking decent for the next 10-14 days. I saw one property where they were watering? Why, then you have to mow. Grass goes dormant during periods like this and will perk up again when we do get rain. My yard is not a golf course.  Dobby managed to give a a large scratch on my foot. He jumped in the shower as I was trying to get out. Lost his balance and in jumping out got my foot. Just a scratch, long, ugly, but it will heal. No pictures here.  Otherwise just watching baseball games, reading and generally taking it easy.   The Reading List - a list of eight books found in another book. Someone lost their reading list?
