Wonderful Wordy Wednesday

Spring is here for sure. Lilacs are blooming, smelling wonderful. Last of the spring birds are here too. Hearing the song of the house wrens, heard and saw a Baltimore Oriole on Tuesday.

Attended my first car race event this past weekend. We had a successful day, get to see lots of people I know and haven't seen in months. Dobby had his Auntie Kellie come to take care of him so he was well cared for.

Also, Dobby had his first vet appointment. Got him in the carrier with a bit of a commotion, even using treats to temp him inside. He did lots of singing on the way there. Good checkup, except he has a yeast infection in his ears. So I get to squirt meds into his ears for the next week.

Being busy means a bit less of reading time, but still take some time every day to read. Even if it is only a chapter or two. It is a good way to unwind before bed.

The Bookseller- a new to me author, Mark Pryor. It took a bit  to get into the book, but once I did, I liked it. Hugo Marston is the security head of the US Embassy in Paris. He has developed a friendship with one of the booksellers that are along the Seine. When he is killed, Hugo wants to know why.

Mrs Christie at the Mystery Guild Library - a reincarnation of Agatha Christie shows up at the Mystery Guild Library to Tory who runs the place. She says she is there to help solve a murder that has yet to happen. So when it does, Tory, Agatha and a motley assortment of people get together to figure out who done it.

Too Old For This - this was a fun book to read. Lottie is retired from her previous occupation. What was it? Serial killer! When a young docuseries producer comes to her door asking if she will participate on killers who were never found guilty, Lottie takes things into her own hands.

107 Days - a memoir by Kamala Harris on her shortened presidential campaign of 2024.

Julie Chan is Dead - Julie and Chloe are twin separated at a young age. Chloe adopted by a rich couple, now leads a high life of an influencer. Julie on the other hand works as a cashier at a grocery store. When Julie can't locate Chloe, on a whim she travels to New York. She finds Chloe dead and seizes the opportunity to take over her life. However Julie doesn't realize what that life really is and is Julie now in too deep for her own good.

Artcurious - a bunch of stories in relation to various artist and art works. What is really true about Monet, Warhol, Van Gogh, Mona Lisa. Was Jack the Ripper really an English painter?!

One Was a Soldier - this book was published five years after the previous book in the series. In book time it occurs 18+ months after the previous books ends. Clare has returned home from her deployment in Iraq with some personal issues to resolve. She and Russ are now openly a couple. To help resolve her issues Clare joins a group therapy for local veterans. When one of the group dies, Russ deems it a suicide, the rest of the group feel it was murder.

Happy Reading
