Wonderful Wordy Wednesday

It has finally warmed up! The past few days have been great, warm with no humidity. Dobby and I have both been enjoying the open windows. Maybe, finally the furnace can be off until the fall.

Lately while it has been nice we have had minimal rain, which is nice as the grass isn't growing quickly which means I don't have to mow the lawn as often. I like that, I can be lazy for a bit.

Which means with less time spent on lawn care means I have more time to read. I think all of my usual TV shows are done for the summer, so more time to read. Still have to make time to watch baseball, local team, The Milwaukee Brewers, are in first place and playing very well.

Death in Brittany - new detective series written by a French author and translated to English. Case involves a murder of an elderly man who it appears is the owner of a previously unknown painting by Paul Gauguin. Because of the translation somethings read a bit strange. Also, unlike many books the places they author refers to are actual places in France.

The Dead Husband Cookbook - Thea has been asked to edit the memoir of a celebrity chef. One thing that needs to be covered in the book is the death of her husband thirty years ago, plus the secret ingredient that makes her meatballs so good. Lots of twists in this one.

No Rest for the Wicked - a few days before Halloween, in Little Horton, a town that is obsessed with celebrating Halloween, the former mayor and senator disappears. His eldest daughter is called by the FBI to return to provide insight if possible to the crime. When two murders occur to men of a similar age things get weird. Are these crimes related? What about those bones dug up from behind city hall? How many secrets does this little town hold?

The Last Chance Library - June is quiet and a bit reclusive. She works as an assistant librarian in her small English town library, the town she grew up in. When the local council votes to close her library and five others she breaks out of her shell to help fight for the library. The story has a happy, but not expected ending.

Happy Reading.
