Donation Day

Image
Happy Friday everyone! Tonight starts the World Series and you know who I am wanting to win. Milwaukee Brewers all the way.  Thursday was donation day for the blankets I have made since February when I took over the ones I made from last fall to then. The closet was full, at that time I took over 18 blankets and the amount today was 15! So a grand total of 33 for the past year. I guess I have been busy! Plus all the hats.  Of course Dobby needed to do one final inspection and the inspection of the empty closet.   Plus all of the hats, three bags of hats.    What the stash looks like as of now. I can now work on the yarn on the lower left hand side. I won't be repeating colors that I have donated in the past year. I try to keep it mixed up so people get something unique.   If I counted correctly I have enough yarn for 25 blankets from what you see on the shelves. That should keep me busy for the winter. Plus yarn-a-holic me will buy more if I find ...

Wonderful Wordy Wednesday

Another beautiful week in October. Makes it nice to be outside and doing a little bit of yard work. Mainly blowing the leaves off the grass.  World Series is set to start on Friday evening. Milwaukee Brewers will be playing the Tampa Bay Rays. Which ever teams wins, it will be the first World Series win, but you know who I am wanting to win.  Was touched by the various posts and messages for Tock-Tober. So nice that so many of you remember Derby too. He was one of the originals when people started cat blogging. So much has changed over the years, but our connection through our felines continues.    The French Widow - A Hugo Marston book. Two cases in this one. First Hugo stops a shooter in the Tuileries preventing a mass murder. Strange thing is that the shooter has a gun from the US Embassy. Second case involves an old French family that seems to have some old scores to settle within the family. Scores that involve murder! This is currently the last published b...

It is that day of the year when I get to officially remember my late, great mancat Derby. This is the 23rd anniversary of his birthday. I am sure there is a crazy party going on at The Bridge. Probably including walking on the ceiling.  He had a way of showing off his back side. I still have a few of him and Ducky.  Plus Dobby. He doesn't show off his hindquarters as much.    Love to my sweet Derby. Miss you big guy.

Crochet Time

WooHoo, celebrating the Milwaukee Brewers sweeping the LA Dodgers in the NL Championship Series. On to the World Series starting next Friday.  Lots of games means lots of crochet time. Keeps my hands busy and also keeps me from nervous eating. I can say the same thing about working during Packer games. The current blanket I just started on Sunday and I am almost done!  This blanket yarn is Plum Majesty from Herrschnerrs type is Specks. So basically one color with flecks of other complementary colors. This is what I would call lilac with bits of purple here and there.    Happy Weekend!

As I write this it is Tuesday evening. Things are good so far with the baseball playoffs. Up two games to none. Weather is super nice for this time of year, super warm in the 80s. So that has meant open windows for both me and Dobby. By the end of the week it is going to be much cooler.    Premeditated Mortar - buildings over 100 years old are being renovated, bringing them from their old purpose of being an insane asylum into shops, condos and a hotel. Protests and some strange people hanging around, some of whom have ties to when the place still housed patients. Plus a couple of recent deaths happen and how they relate to previous uses and abuses.  The Bodyguard - The movie with Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner. I got bored with in about 2/3 of the way through and moved to the end. I mostly wanted to see how they fit in "And I Will Always Love You" into the movie. Yep, it was at the end! The Killing Tide - Dupin's least favorite case, one where he must be on a ...

Wonderful fall weather continues, I even sat outside for a while and read a book. Lots of baseball as well, at least in the evenings. Brewers are headed into the next round. Just waiting and watching to see who gets through from the White Sox - Guardians game.  With the sports I am going gang busters on crochet. Nearly finished one since Sunday! Too much nervous energy to work out. Plus a couple of the games have been late, so still crocheting at midnight when the games end. This blanket is Crushed Berries from Herrschnerrs. I've used this color before and I like the mix of colors.     Happy Weekend.

As I work on this post it is before the Brewer's baseball game tonight. So don't know if they won or lost, but they only need one more win to move to the next round. EDITED WED AM - they lost, play again Wednesday PM.  Also, one month to election day. I am so tired of all of the ads and I am trying to watch minimal TV or record things so I can fast forward through the ads.  Just getting over a bad upper respiratory thing. Less coughing and sneezing and I am starting to get good sleep. Still have sinus draining.   Wonderful weather, windows open!  Isola - historical fiction based upon the actual person of Marguerite de la Rocque de Roberval. An heiress orphaned at a young age, her guardian spends her inheritance, takes her to New France (Canada) and abandons her when she develops a relationship with his man servant. She eventually makes her way back home, gaining the respect of the Queen of France.  Furious Minds - didn't completely read this book. Outline...

Baseball playoffs are in full swing, so getting lots of crochet done. Not watching every game, but enough. Milwaukee Brewer's start play on Saturday. So far the teams I would like to move on are moving on and a bit happy that the Chicago Cubs are going home.   Dealing with a hacky cough, don't feel super bad, but sound terrible. When I have been out in public I have been wearing a mask so I don't cough on people. Staying home a lot too. Sleeping better the past few days to that helps. Plus my raspy voice is healing too.  Next blanket is made with color Rainy Day from Herrschnerrs. Fitting, having lots of rainy days this week.    Happy weekend.
